In Memoriam: Patricia A. Howard, 1951-2015

Pat Howard for webPatricia Howard, a professor and vice chair in the department of pharmacy practice at the University of Kansas and a professor of cardiovascular medicine at the University of Kansas Medical Center, died on December 17 at the Kansas City Hospice House. She was 64 years old and had suffered from pancreatic cancer.

Professor Howard joined the faculty at the University of Kansas in 1983 as a clinical pharmacy instructor. She was promoted to full professor in 2000. She had planned to retire from the University of Kansas in January 2016. Dr. Howard’s research focused on clinical cardiology in the inpatient setting and had a special interest in heart failure, atrial fibrillation, and coronary disease.

Professor Howard earned a bachelor’s degree in medical technology and microbiology from Kansas State University She held a bachelor’s degree and a doctorate in pharmacy from the University of Kansas.
