Women Earned 524,000 More Credentials Than Men From Four-Year Institutions in 2013-14

A new report from the U.S. Department of Education offers preliminary data on higher educational degree awards in the 2013-14 academic year.
According to the report, four-year Title IV degree-granting institutions made 3,248,544 degree or certificate awards in the 2013-14 academic year. Of these 57.6 percent were bachelor’s degrees and 23.2 percent were master’s degrees. Less than 5 percent of all awards were certificates.
Women earned 1,886,334 degrees and certificates from four-year institutions in the 2013-14 academic year. They made up 58.1 percent of all individuals who were given degrees or certificates from four-year institutions.
At two-year community colleges, women earned 58.4 percent of the 1,276,718 degrees and certificates awarded by these institutions during the 2013-14 academic year.
