Five Women in New Administrative Roles in Higher Education

Anja-ChavezAnja Chavez was appointed director of university museums at Colgate University in Hamilton, New York, effective May 1. Since 2008, she has been the curator of contemporary art at the Warehouse Gallery and the SUArt Galleries at Syracuse University. She is the former curator of contemporary art at Wellesley College.

Dr. Chavez holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in art history from the University of Bonn in Germany.

Roberts_BettyBetty Roberts was promoted to senior vice president for university operations and chief operating officer at Alcorn State University in Mississippi. She joined the staff at Alcorn State in 2011 as senior vice president for administration and chief financial officer. She previously held positions at the University of Houston, Pennsylvania State University, and the University of Missouri.

A graduate of Cazenovia College in New York, Dr. Roberts holds a master’s degree from the University of Louisville and a doctorate in higher education from the University of Missouri.

PorterJaime_162Jamie Porter has been appointed assistant vice president for development operations at Princeton University in New Jersey. She has been serving as executive director of development for the Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. She previously held posts at Carnegie Mellon University and Colby College.

Porter is a graduate of Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.

lisa-mckayLisa L. McKay was promoted to senior assistant provost and director of the University Center for Academic and Workforce Development for the State University of New York. She has been serving as director of the university’s Educational Opportunity Center. She has held that post since 2002.

A graduate of Bowie State University in Maryland, where she majored in psychology, McKay holds a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling from the University at Albany, part of the SUNY system.

Microsoft Word - short bio.docHelen Gonzales was named chief compliance officer at the University of New Mexico. She has been serving as vice president for human resources at the university.

Gonzales holds an MBA and is a graduate of the Harvard Management Development Program.
