In Memoriam: Grace Chao Auyang, 1940-2023

Grace Auyang, a long-time faculty member at the University of Cincinnati, died on July 5 in Gahanna, Ohio. She was 83 years old.

Born in Kweilin City, China, Dr. Auyang was a graduate of Taiwan University. She continued her studies in the United States, completing her master’s degree and Ph.D. in sociology at Temple University in Philadelphia. She conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Auyang accepted a faculty position at the University of Cincinnati, where she rose in the ranks to full professor and served as chair of the department of behavioral sciences. She taught courses relating to sociology, psychology, criminology, cultural studies and diversity, and women’s studies.
