In Memoriam: Nancy Russell Hamant, 1935-2020

Nancy Hamant, a former faculty member and academic adviser at the University of Cincinnati died on Thanksgiving Day. She was 85 years old.
Dr. Hament earned a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree in education, and a Ph.D. from the College of Education at the University of Cincinnati. After earning her master’s degree she taught at a high school before joining the faculty at the University of Cincinnati in 1964. She later served as the university’s NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative from 1986 to her retirement in 2007.
The Nancy Hamant Academics Center on the fifth floor of the Richard E. Lindner Athletics Center is named in her honor. The university also has established an award in her name that is given to the male and female student athlete with the highest grade point average.
