Barbara Knuth, Dean of Cornell’s Graduate School, Honored by the Council of Graduate Schools

Barbara A. Knuth, dean of Graduate School at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, is the 2019 recipient of the Debra W. Stewart Award for Outstanding Leadership in Graduate Education. The award is given out by the Council of Graduate Schools. The council comprises approximately 500 institutions of higher education, in the United States and Canada, engaged in graduate education and research.

Knuth, also a professor of natural resources in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, received the honor at an awards ceremony held during the council’s 59th annual meeting in Nashville, Tennessee. The award included a cash prize.

Dr. Knuth has been dean of the Graduate School at Cornell for nearly a decade. She is the past chair of the board of directors of the Council of Graduate Schools.

Professor Knuth holds two bachelor’s degrees and a master’s degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She earned a Ph.D. at Virginia Tech.
