Three Women Named Department Chairs at the Mississippi University for Women

The College of Nursing & Health Sciences at Mississippi University for Women has announced three new department chairs.

Brandy Larmon is the new chair of the department of associate nursing. She joined the faculty at the university in 2008. Dr. Larmon is a graduate of the nursing program at the Mississippi University for Women. She holds a master’s degree in health administration from University of Mississippi Medical Center and an educational doctorate from Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi.

Maria Scott was appointed chair of the department of baccalaureate nursing. She joined the faculty at the university in 2005 as an instructor. Dr. Scott was promoted to assistant professor in 2013 and associate professor in 2016. Dr. Scott holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from the Mississippi University for Women and a doctor of nursing practice degree from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama.

Kathy Shapley was named  chair of the department of speech-language pathology. Dr. Shapley was an associate professor at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and served as the national director of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association. She holds a bachelor’s degree of chemistry from Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, Texas, a master’s degree in communications disorders from the University of Houston and a master’s degree in educational psychology and a doctorate from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
