Three Women Scholars Announce They Are Stepping Down From Their Posts

Carolyn Meier was named associate professor emerita of University Libraries at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She joined the faculty at Virginia Tech in 2006.

Meier is a graduate of Ohio Dominican University in Columbus, Ohio. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Michigan.

Susan Baldridge, provost at Middlebury College in Vermont, will step down from her post at the end of the calendar year. Dr. Baldridge will serve as provost on leave for the rest of the academic year and then take a one-year sabbatical. She will return to Middlebury in the fall of 2019 as a professor of psychology.

Dr. Baldridge joined the faculty at Middlebury College in 1993. She holds a Ph.D. in social psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Patricia E. Beeson, provost and senior vice chancellor at the University of Pittsburgh, has announced that she will step down from her administrative post at the end of the academic year and return to the economics faculty.

Beeson joined the faculty at the University of Pittsburgh in 1983 and was named provost in 2010. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Oregon State University and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Oregon.
