Rice University’s Linda Capuano Appointed to High-Level Energy Department Post

Linda Capuano, a fellow in energy technology for the Center for Energy Studies in the Baker Institute for Public Policy at Rice University in Houston, has been appointed by President Trump as administrator of the Energy Information Administration of the U.S. Department of Energy. The Energy Information Administration is the statistical and analytical arm of the Energy Department.

Dr. Capuano has been at Rice University since 2014. Her research is focused on accelerating the treatment and use of non-fresh water sources. Before coming to the academic world, Dr. Capuano was an executive for such companies as IBM, Marathon Oil, Honeywell, and Allied Signal Aerospace.

Dr. Capuano is a graduate of Stony Brook University in New York, where she majored in chemistry. She holds a second bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and a master’s degree in chemistry from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Dr. Capuano earned a second master’s degree in engineering management and a Ph.D. in materials science and engineering from Stanford University.
