The New Provost at the University of California, Riverside

The University of California, Riverside, has appointed Cynthia K. Larive as provost and executive vice chancellor. She has been serving in the role on an interim basis since February.

A scholar of bioanalytical chemistry, Dr. Larive joined the faculty at the University of California, Riverside in 2005. Since coming to the university, she has served as vice provost for undergraduate education, interim dean of the College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences, and chair of the department of chemistry. Earlier in her career, Professor Larive taught at the University of Kansas.

Dr. Larive is a graduate of South Dakota State University, where she majored in chemistry. She holds a master’s degree in chemistry from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, and a Ph.D. in analytical chemistry from the University or California, Riverside.
