Ira Kincade Blake Selected as the Next President of the University of Houston-Clear Lake

Ira Kincade BlakeIra Kincade Blake has been named as the sole finalist to become the fifth president of the University of Houston-Clear Lake. When she takes office on August 1, she will become the first woman to serve as president of the university.

The University of Houston-Clear Lake enrolls about 5,500 undergraduate students and 3,500 graduate students. Women make up 65 percent of the undergraduate student body.

Since 2009, Dr. Blake has been serving as senior vice president for academic affairs and provost at Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania. Earlier, she was associate vie chancellor for academic and student affairs at the Dixon University Center in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Blake is a graduate of George Washington University and holds a master’s degree in educational psychology from San Francisco State University. She holds a second master’s degree and a Ph.D. in developmental psychology from Columbia University in New York City.
