In Memoriam: Mary Alice Morrison, 1921-2017

Mary Alice MorrisonMary Alice Morrison, professor emerita in the Division of Nutritional Sciences at Cornell University, died at her home in Ithaca, New York, earlier this year. She was 95 years old.

A native of Alberta, Canada, Dr. Morrison served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II. She was a graduate of the University of Alberta and held a master’s degree in food and nutrition from Washington State University and a Ph.D. in biochemistry and nutrition from the University of Wisconsin.

Dr. Morrison taught in elementary and junior high schools before joining the faculty at Cornell University in 1960. Her research focused on protein and amino acid nutrition.

Dr. Morrison retired from teaching in 1988 but remained active at the university, serving as secretary of the faculty and with the Cornell Association of Professors Emeriti.
