In Memoriam: Carol Vergene DeRolf, 1933-2017

Carol V. DeRolf, a long-time instructor at the Child Study Center of Old Dominion University in Norfolk Virginia, died on April 7. She was 83 years old.

A native of Kearney, Nebraska, DeRolf was a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Kearney and earned a master’s degree in education from Western Illinois University. She joined the staff at the Child Study Center at Old Dominion University in 1974. There she was a preschool teacher and instructor for childhood education students at the university. She retired from teaching in 2011 after 37 years at the Child Study Center.

Each year the Darden College of Education at Old Dominion University gives out the Carol V. DeRolf Early Childhood Education Award to the top graduating senior in the early childhood education program in the department of teaching and learning.
