Barbara Csavinszky, who served as an associate professor of home economics and health education at the University of Maine, died on Christmas Day at a hospital in Bangor, Maine. She was 82 years old.
A native of Turner, Maine, Dr. Csavinszky held a bachelor’s degree in home economics from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. She earned a master’s degree in education at the University of Maine and an educational doctorate from Pennsylvania State University.
After working in retail and teaching at a junior high school, Dr. Csavinszky joined the faculty at the University of Maine in 1969. From 1976 to 1986, she was the director of the School of Human Development at the university. Dr. Csavinszky retired from teaching in 1995.
