D. Ann Pabst to Lead the Society for Marine Mammalogy

D. Ann PabstD. Ann Pabst, a professor of marine biology at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, was named president-elect of the Society for Marine Mammalogy. Professor Pabst will serve a two-year term as president-elect and then a two-year term as president of the society.

The Society of Marine Mammalogy has more than 2,000 members from 25 countries around the world. Professor Pabst joined the society in 1987 when she was a graduate student. Her research focuses on musculoskeletal design and thermoregulatory function in whales, dolphins, and porpoises.

Professor Pabst is a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park, where she majored in zoology. She holds a Ph.D. in zoology from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, and conducted postdoctoral research at the University of British Columbia.
