In Memoriam: Marie L. Griffin, 1967-2016

Marie GriffinMarie Griffin, professor of criminology and criminal justice at Arizona State University, died on August 15. She was 49 years old and had suffered from breast cancer.

A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Dr. Griffin moved to Arizona at the age of 12. She was a 1989 graduate of Santa Clara University in California, where she majored in political science. She earned a Ph.D. in justice studies at Arizona State University.

Dr. Griffin joined the faculty at Arizona State University in 1996. She was promoted to associate professor in 2006 and to full professor in 2015. She was the author of The Use of Force by Detention Officers (LFB Scholarly Publishing, 2001).
