University of South Carolina Upstate Names an Interim Chancellor

fitzpatrickMary Anne Fitzpatrick was appointed interim chancellor of the University of South Carolina Upstate in Spartanburg, effective August 1. The campus enrolls about 5,400 undergraduate students and nearly 200 graduate students. Women make up 64 percent of the student body.

For the past year, Dr. Fitzpatrick has been serving as vice president for planning for the University of South Carolina System. Previously, she was dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of South Carolina. Dr. Fitzpatrick is also an Educational Foundation Distinguished Professor of Psychology.

“I am honored to serve as the interim chancellor at USC Upstate,” Dr. Fitzpatrick said in the statement. “It is evident to me that the community leaders and the alumni are very supportive of the institution and its mission. Moreover, the faculty and staff and students want to continue to move the institution forward.”
