In Memoriam: Marilyn Hadley Damon, 1924-2016

Marilyn DamonMarilyn Damon, who taught mathematics at several universities during a long career in higher education, died late last month in Laconia, New Hampshire. She was 92 years old.

Damon was a native of Fall River, Massachusetts, and earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from what is now the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. After graduation, she taught at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and the University of Maryland.

Damon joined the faculty at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1948 and taught there until 1964. She later worked on the staff of the Hotel, Restaurant, and Travel Administration program in the College of Food & Natural Resources at the university.
