Women Appointed to Dean Positions at the University of Michigan and Oregon State University

videkaLynn Videka was appointed dean of the School of Social Work at the University of Michigan, effective August 1. Since 2009, she has been dean and a professor at the Silver School of Social Work at New York University. Earlier, Dr. Videka was dean of the School of Social Welfare at the University at Albany of the State University of New York System.

Dr. Videka is a graduate of the University of Illinois College of Nursing. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago.

DENNISJennifer Dennis was promoted to dean of the Graduate School at Oregon State University in Corvallis. She will also hold the title of vice provost. Before coming to Oregon State in 2015 as associate dean of the Graduate School, Dr. Dennis served for 11 years on the faculty of Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. There, she held joint appointments in the departments of horticulture and landscape architecture and agricultural economics.

Dr. Dennis holds bachelor’s and master’s degree in horticulture from the University of Illinois. She earned a Ph.D. in horticulture with a minor in marketing and consumer behavior from Michigan State University
