Erika Beck Chosen as the New President of California State University, Channel Islands

Erika Beck, the New President of California State University, Channel IslandsErika D. Beck was named the second president of California State University, Channel Islands. The university, which is actually on the mainland in Camarillo, enrolls about 5,900 undergraduates and 250 graduate students. Women make up 64 percent of the undergraduate student body. The Channel Island campus, which enrolled its first students in 2002, is the youngest of the 23 campuses of the California State University System.

Dr. Beck currently serves as provost and executive vice president of Nevada State College in Henderson. Before becoming provost, she served as dean of Liberal Arts and Sciences, chair of the Faculty Senate, and as a faculty member in the psychology department. Earlier in her career, Dr. Beck taught at the University of California, San Diego.

Dr. Beck holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a Ph.D. in experimental psychology from the University of California, San Diego. She earned a master’s degree in psychology at San Diego State University.
