In Memoriam: Margarette Leggitt Harden Mercer, 1925-2015

Margarette Harden, who taught for 25 years in the College of Human Sciences at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, died on November 18. She was 90 years old.

A native of Lubbock County, Dr. Harden held master’s and doctoral degrees from Texas Tech University. She joined the faculty at the university in 1967 and retired from teaching in 1992. After leaving the faculty, Dr. Harden opened a dietetic consulting service.

Dr. Harden served on the Texas State Board of Examiners for Dietitians. She was the recipient of the President’s Excellence Award and the Faculty Distinguished Leadership Award at Texas Tech.
