Two Women Scholars Named to Dean Positions

AngelaEppsAngela Felecia Epps has been selected as the next dean of the College of Law at Florida A&M University. The university is based in Tallahassee but the law school is in Orlando. Professor Epps will take office on January 4, 2016. At the current time, Epps is a professor of law at the William H. Bowen School of Law at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She joined the faculty at the law school in 1999 and has served as associate dean for academic affairs. Before joining the faculty at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Professor Epps was a judge advocate for the U.S. Marine Corps and managing attorney for the Georgia Legal Services Program in Albany.

Professor Epps is a graduate of Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa, where she majored in sociology and political science. She is a magna cum laude graduate of the Creighton University School of Law in Omaha, Nebraska.

Baishakhi-TaylorBaishakhi Taylor is the new dean of students at Middlebury College in Vermont. She was the associate dean for the Trinity College of Arts and Sciences at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. Dr. Taylor plans to teach in department of sociology and anthropology at Middlebury College in the fall of 2016.

Dr. Taylor is a native of Kolkata, India. She holds a master’s degree in women’s studies from the University of Northern Iowa and a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Kentucky.
