The Only On-Campus MBA Program for Women Is Closing

simmons_logoThe only on-campus graduate management program for women in the nation at Simmons College in Boston is closing. Since 1975 the Simmons School of Management has been offering an MBA program that focuses not only on business training but gender issues in the workplace. But in recent years, enrollments in the program have fallen.

Simmons College will now offer only an online MBA program that will be open to both men and women. The new program which will begin in March 2016 will offer a traditional MBA and a health care MBA. But the college is not abandoning its focus on women. Students in the new online MBA will have the option of an elective gender component. And the women’s college will continue to offer undergraduates business degrees with concentrations in accounting, finance, marketing, management, and leadership.

The college also announced plans to establish the Institute for Gender Equity and Women’s Leadership in Business. The institute will conduct research and offer non-degree education and training on gender equity and leadership.
