In Memoriam: Carolyn Rubin Falk, 1938-2015

falkCarolyn Falk, a longtime K-12 educator and adjunct professor at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, died on June 21 at the Yale-New Haven Hospital. She was 77 years old.

A native of Brooklyn, Dr. Falk attended New York City public schools and graduated from Brooklyn College. She held a master’s degree in special education from Southern Connecticut State University and a doctorate in educational psychology from the University of Connecticut.

Dr. Falk taught in gifted and special education programs in several public school district. In 1987, she was named director of the curriculum laboratory at Southern Connecticut State University. For a decade, she taught educational psychology classes at the university. From 1992 to 2003, Dr. Falk was a school psychologist for the Wolcott, Connecticut, school system.

In addition to her life as an educator, Dr. Falk was a columnist, a justice of the peace, an artist, and a United States figure skating judge.
