Two Women Appointed to Positions as Provost

blaseFrances Rose Blase was named provost at Haverford College, the high-ranking liberal arts college in suburban Philadelphia. She is an associate professor of chemistry at Haverford and for the past two years has served as associate provost for curricular development and support. Dr. Blase has been on the faculty at Haverford for 24 years.

Dr. Blase is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where she majored in chemistry. She earned a Ph.D. in organic chemistry at Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania.

BichelmeyerBarbara A. Bichelmeyer was appointed provost and executive vice chancellor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She will begin her new job in September. Dr. Bichelmeyer has been serving as executive associate vice president for university academic affairs and senior director of the Office of Online Education at Indiana University in Bloomington.

A Kansas native, Dr. Bichelmeyer earned bachelor’s degrees in journalism and English, a master’s degree in educational policy and administration, and a doctorate in educational communications and technology, all from the University of Kansas.
