Two Texas Christian University Scholars Named Co-Editors of The Reading Teacher

cover-rtTwo faculty members of the College of Education at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth have been selected as co-editors of the journal The Reading Teacher, a publication of the International Literacy Association. The peer-reviewed journal is aimed at reading and literacy teachers for students up to the age of 12.

TCU Education headshotsJan Lacina is a professor of literacy and associate dean for graduate studies. She is the former editor of the Journal of Research in Childhood Education. Dr. Lacina joined the faculty at Texas Christian University in 2005. She is a graduate of Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Professor Lacina holds a master’s degree in elementary education from Texas Woman’s University and a Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction from the University of Kansas.

robin-griffithRobin Griffith is an associate professor of literacy education at the university. She taught in the Texas public schools before joining the faculty at Texas Christian University. Dr. Griffith holds a bachelor’s degree in human development and family studies, a master’s degree in language and literacy education, and a Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction, all from Texas Tech University.

The Reading Teacher has provided educators with practical teaching ideas that are grounded in theory and research for more than 60 years,” said Marcie Craig Post, executive director of the International Literacy Association. “Jan and Robin’s impressive classroom and research experience will be critical in our mission to continue to provide the insightful and relatable content that readers of The Reading Teacher have come to expect.”
