The Next President of Dakota State University in Madison, South Dakota

GriffithsJose-Marie Griffiths was named the 23rd president of Dakota State University in Madison, South Dakota. The university enrolls about 2,900 undergraduate students and 250 graduate students. Women make up 48 percent of the undergraduate student body. Dr. Griffiths will begin her term as president at Dakota State University this summer.

Dr. Griffiths has been serving as vice president for academic affairs at Bryant University in Smithfield, Rhode Island. She has held this post since 2010. Previously, she held administrative posts and taught at the University of Tennessee, the University of Michigan, the University of Pittsburgh, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she was dean of the School of Library and Information Science.

Dr. Griffiths holds a bachelor’s degree and a Ph.D. in information science from University College London.
