Kim Schatzel to Lead Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti

schatzelThe board of regents of Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti has named Kim Schatzel as interim president. She will begin her new role on July 7 and continue until a permanent president is in place. No timetable was given for the presidential search process.

Eastern Michigan University enrolls about 19,000 undergraduate students and 4,200 graduate students. Women make up 58 percent of the undergraduate student body.

Dr. Schatzel is currently provost and executive vice president at Eastern Michigan University. Before joining the university in 2012, she was dean of the College of Business at the University of Michigan-Dearborn.

Dr. Schatzel is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, where she majored in economics and biology. She holds a Ph.D. from the Graduate School of Management at Michigan State University.
