94-Year-old Former Mayor Takes Post at the University of Toronto-Mississauga

mcallionHazel McCallion is the new special adviser to the president of the University of Toronto-Mississauga. In this role, she will advise the president on the strategic development of the university campus. She will also be helping to develop a master’s degree program in urban innovation for the university’s Institute for Management and Innovation. Finally, she will also be a guest lecturer for a non-credit training course for individuals interesting in public service.

Hazel McCallion is 94 years old.

Nicknamed “Hurricane Hazel,” McCallion served for 36 years as mayor of the city of Mississauga. She was first elected in 1978 and served 12 terms.
