Five Women Promoted and Awarded Tenure at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis

Wustl-logoThe Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis has announced promotions for nine faculty members. All nine faculty members were also awarded tenure. Five of the nine faculty members who were promoted and awarded tenure are women.

BenzingerTTammie S. Benzinger was promoted to associate professor of radiology at the medical school. She is a graduate of Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts. She earned her medical degree and a Ph.D. in pathology at the University of Chicago.

lapiSuzanne E. Lapi was also promoted to associate professor of radiology. She holds a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in nuclear chemistry from Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia.

mmitrevaMakedonka Mitreva has been a member of the faculty at the Washington University School of Medicine since 2002. She has been named an associate professor of medicine, effective in July. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Cyril and Methodius University in Macedonia and a Ph.D. in nemotology from the Wageningen University and Research Center in the Netherlands.

mysorekarIndira U. Mysorekar is a native of India. She was promoted to associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the medical school. Dr. Mysorekar holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Lund in Sweden. She earned a Ph.D. in developmental biology from Washington University.

KAHWheadshotKatherine A. Henzler-Wildman is a new associate professor of biochemistry and molecular biophysics. She has been on the faculty at Washington University since 2008. Dr. Henzler-Wildman holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Michigan and conducted postdoctoral research at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts.
