Carol A. Bisogni, professor of nutritional sciences and associate dean for academic affairs in the College of Human Ecology at Cornell University, died on November 15 in Ithaca, New York. She was 65 years old and had suffered from cancer.
A native of Jersey City, New Jersey, Bisogni enrolled at Cornell University at the age of 16. She earned bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees at Cornell in the span of six years. She then joined the faculty at the university. She was named associate dean in 2007.
Alan Mathios, the Rebecca Q. and James C. Morgan Dean of the College of Human Ecology at Cornell, stated that “Carole was a strong advocate for students, was committed to high academic standards, and believed that students should be at the center of the college’s work. She combined her passion for teaching and knowledge of her field into dynamic and enriching student learning experiences, not only for her own students and advisees, but for all Human Ecology students. Carole will be greatly missed by colleagues at Cornell, as a beloved member of the Ithaca community and as an alumna of the college.”
