Barbara Phillips to Lead the American College of Chest Physicians

Barbara Phillips, professor of pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, has been named president-elect of the American College of Chest Physicians. The organization, which has 18,700 members in more than 100 countries around the world, is focused on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of chest diseases through education, communication, and research. It publishes the journal CHEST.
Dr. Phillips also serves as the medical director of the Good Samaritan Sleep Disorder Center at the University of Kentucky. She is the former chair of the National Sleep Foundation. Dr. Phillips’ research is focuses on sleep apnea. She earned her medical degree at the University of Kentucky.
