In Memoriam: Midge Leitch, 1946-2014

leitchMidge Leitch, an equine veterinarian who served on the staff at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine’s New Bolton Center in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, died on February 15 after a battle with cancer. She was 68 years old.

Dr. Leitch was one of the first woman equine veterinarians to become board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. In addition to her duties at Penn, she served as the official veterinarian to the U.S. Equestrian team at the Atlanta Olympic Games in 1996 and the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000.

Dr. Leitch was a graduate of Goucher College in Maryland. She earned her doctorate in veterinary medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.
