Kirstin Erickson Is the First Woman to Direct the Latin American Studies Program at the University of Arkansas

Erickson BookKirKirstinEricksonsmallstin Erickson, associate professor of anthropology at the University of Arkansas, has been named director of the university’s Latin American and Latino/Latina studies program. The program includes 15 core faculty members and 10 additional affiliated faculty. The program was established in 1974. Dr Erickson is the first woman director of the Latin American and Latino studies program.

Dr. Erickson joined the faculty at the university in 2001. She is the author of Yaqui Homeland and Homeplace: The Everyday Production of Ethnic Identity (University of Arizona Press, 2008). Dr. Erickson earned a Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
