Chief Investment Officer for the University of California Leaves Post

Marie_BerggrenMarie N. Berggren abruptly retired for personal reasons from her post as the chief investment officer for the University of California. She held the post since 2006, overseeing an investment portfolio of about $80 billion. Before joining the staff at the University of California, Berggren was executive vice president and head of venture capital investments for Bank One Corporation. Earlier in her career, she was managing director of public equities and director of research for First Chicago Investment Advisors.

Berggren is a graduate of the College of New Rochelle in New York. She earned a master’s degree in management from the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University.
