Florida Atlantic University Receives the Papers of One of Its First Graduates

Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton has received a donation of the personal papers of Virginia Artrip Snyder, a member of the inaugural graduating class at the university who went on to become an award-winning newspaper reporter and private investigator. Synder, now 91 years old, donated her papers to the special collections unit of the university’s Wimberly Library, which has established the Virginia Snyder Collection.

Snyder graduated from Florida Atlantic University in 1965 with a bachelor’s degree in government and politics. She then began a journalism career at the Fort Lauderdale News. In 1976, she opened her only detective agency in Delray Beach.
