Mariell Jessup to Lead the American Heart Association

Mariell L. Jessup, medical director of the Heart and Vascular Center at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, is president-elect of the American Heart Association. She will serve as president-elect for one year and then become president of the association on July 1, 2013.

“My involvement with the American Heart Association has spanned more than 20 years and I am honored to be so engaged with the nation’s leading health organization dedicated to the treatment and prevention of cardiovascular disease and stroke,” said Dr. Jessup.

Dr. Jessup earned her medical degree at the Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia. She is the co-editor of Heart Failure: A Clinician’s Guide to Ambulatory Diagnosis and Treatment (Humana Press).
