Two High-Ranking Liberal Arts Colleges Appoint Women to Chair Their Boards of Trustees

Jeanne Martin Buckley was named chair of the board of trustees at Pomona College in California. She is the first woman to hold the position since the college’s founding in 1887.

Buckley has been a member of the Pomona board since 1999. A former juvenile court judge, since 2004 Buckley has worked with Resolution Remedies, a firm specializing in mediation, arbitration, and alternative dispute resolution. Buckley is a graduate of Pomona College and earned her law degree at the Empire College School of Law in Santa Rosa, California.

Elizabeth Mugar Eveillard was elected chair of the board of trustees of Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. A former investment banker for Lehman Brothers and PaineWebber, she joined the Smith board of trustees in 2003.

Eveillard is a 1968 alumna of Smith College and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.
