Three Women Chemists Promoted at Xavier University of Louisiana

Xavier University in New Orleans has announced the promotions of three women in its chemistry department.

Kathleen Morgan was promoted to full professor of chemistry. Dr. Morgan has been on the Xavier faculty for the past 11 years. Her research focuses on investigating the interrelationships between molecular structure, energy, and reactivity.

Dr. Morgan is a graduate of Dartmouth College. She earned a Ph.D. in chemistry from Yale University.

Stassi DiMaggio was promoted to associate professor of chemistry. She joined the chemistry department faculty in 2006. From 2003 to 2005, Dr. DiMaggio was a laboratory coordinator for chemistry and organic chemistry at Xavier.

Dr. DiMaggio is a graduate of Tulane University. She holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of New Orleans.

Sarah Weaver was named an associate professor of chemistry. She joined the Xavier University faculty in 2007. She is the organic chemistry laboratory coordinator at Xavier University.

Dr. Weaver holds a bachelor’s degree and a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Florida.
