Dhyana Ziegler Elected Chair of the Southern Scholarship Foundation

Dhyana Ziegler, professor of journalism at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, was elected chair of the Southern Scholarship Foundation. She is the first African American woman to serve in this position.

The foundation has been providing scholarships for low-income students for more than half a century.

Dr. Ziegler joined the faculty at Florida A&M in 1997 as the Garth Reaves Eminent Scholar in Journalism. At FAMU she has served as assistant vice president for technology/academic affairs, acting vice president for research, and director of university planning and analysis.

Dr. Ziegler holds master’s and doctoral degrees from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.
