Phoebe Haddon Named Chancellor of Rutgers University-Camden
Since 2009 Dr. Haddon has been dean of the Carey School of Law at the University of Maryland. Before becoming dean in 2009, Haddon served on the faculty at the Beasley School of Law at Temple University in Philadelphia.

Ioana Petrescu was recently sworn in as finance minister for the nation of Romania. She is a graduate of Wellesley College and holds two graduate degrees from Harvard. Dr. Petrescu was an assistant professor at the University of Maryland.

In Memoriam: Suzanne M. Bianchi, 1952-2013
Dr. Bianchi was the inaugural holder of the Dorothy Meier Chair in Social Equities at the University of California at Los Angeles. She began her career at the U.S. Census Bureau and then taught for 15 years at the University of Maryland at College Park.
In Memoriam: Lee Thornton, 1942-2013
Dr. Thornton was the first African American woman to serve as a White House correspondent for a major news network. She taught at Howard University for 14 years and was interim dean of the Merrill College of Journalism at the University of Maryland.
