Six Women Appointed to Higher Education Administrative Positions

Evangeline Pointer has been named director of alumni affairs and engagement at South Carolina State University. She most recently served as an associate vice president and strategy and planning consultant for Wells Fargo.
Pointer is a graduate of South Carolina State University where she majored in mathematics with a minor in computer science. She holds an MBA from Strayer University in Virginia.
Lisa Uherick has been named the inaugural chief well-being officer for the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University Carilion School of Medicine in Roanoke. She currently serves as a pediatric emergency physician, pediatric director, and director of well-being and emergency services for Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, Virginia.
Dr. Uherick holds a bachelor’s degree in zoology and animal biology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin.
Katie Dickens has been named chief digital and information officer for University of Kentucky HealthCare. With over two decades of experience in health care operations, Dickens most recently served as vice president of technology application at Bronson Healthcare in Michigan.
Dickens received her bachelor’s degree in organization management and a master’s degree in business administration and management from Central Michigan University.
Cherron Hoppes has been appointed chief student experience officer for Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, California. She previously served as chief academic officer for Helix Education, a higher education technology service suite regarding enrolling, retaining, and teaching students throughout their educational lifecycle.
Hoppes holds a master of public administration degree with an emphasis in higher education from New Mexico State University and a doctorate in higher education administration from the University of Alabama.
Meghan McCord-Zaro has been promoted to vice president of quality, patient safety, and risk management at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton New Jersey. She has been with the university hospital since 2019, most recently serving as assistant vice president of risk and regulatory compliance.
McCord-Zaro received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Pennsylvania State University and her master’s degree in jurisprudence from Seton Hall University in New Jersey.
Jill Geisler Wheeler has been named director of honors and experiential learning for the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas. She has served the university for the past two decades, holding positions in the Office of Admissions and the Fulbright College Advising Center.
Wheeler holds three degrees from the University of Arkansas: a bachelor’s degree in marketing, a master’s degree in higher education, and a second master’s degree in counselor education.
