Four Women Scholars Who Have Been Appointed Deans

Precie Schroyer was promoted to executive dean of the Monroe County Campus of Northampton Community College in Tannersville, Pennsylvania. She had been serving as associate dean of the branch campus and previously was an associate professor of English and coordinator of the Honors Program.

Dr. Schroyer earned a bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in philosophy and a master’s degree in English from Villanova University in Pennsylvania. She received her Ph.D. in English from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Diane Rowland was named dean of the new College of Earth, Life, and Health Sciences at the University of Maine. The college was formerly known as the College of Natural Sciences, Forestry, and Agriculture. Dr. Rowland is also the director of the Maine Agricultural and Forest Experiment Station at the University of Maine. Before joining the University of Maine in August 2021, Dr.  Rowland was a professor and department chair at the University of Florida.

Dr. Rowland holds a Ph.D. in plant ecophysiology from the University of New Mexico.

Joyce deJong has been recommended to serve as the new dean of the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, effective in February. Dr. deJong currently serves as a professor and founding chair of the department of pathology at the Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine.

Dr. DeJong holds a bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences from Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan. She earned a doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from Michigan State University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Meredith Gronski has been named dean of the College of Health Sciences & Human Services at Methodist University in Fayetteville, North Carolina, effective January 1. Dr. Gronski will step into the role after serving as Methodist University’s occupational therapy department chair and director of the Doctor of Occupational Therapy program.

Dr. Gronski holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Washington University in St. Louis and a doctoral degree in occupational therapy from the Washington University School of Medicine.
