Laurie Bernotsky Will Be the Next President of West Chester University in Pennsylvania

The Board of Governors of Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education unanimously selected Laurie Bernotsky as the sixteenth president of West Chester University. She will become president on July 1.

West Chester University enrolls more than 14,300 undergraduate students and nearly 3,000 graduate students, according to the latest data from the U.S. Department of Education. Women make up 59 percent of the undergraduate student body.

Dr. Bernotsky has been serving as acting president of PennWest University on loan from her post as executive vice president and provost at West Chester University. Prior to becoming executive vice president and provost, Dr. Bernotsky served as West Chester University’s associate provost and dean of the Graduate School.

Bernotsky holds a master’s degree in sociology from Temple University in Philadelphia. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in politics from the University of Oxford in England.
