Lynn Akey Will Be the Next Chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside

Lynn D. Akey has been named the seventh Chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in Kenosha. She will take office on January 2.

The University of Wisconsin-Parkside enrolls just over 3,200 undergraduate students and just over 700 graduate students, according to the latest data from the U.S. Department of Education. Women make up 56 percent of the undergraduate student body.

“UW-Parkside provides outstanding academic programs, incredible learning experiences with dedicated faculty and staff, and life-changing opportunities in a vibrant location,” Dr. Akey said. “I look forward to working with faculty, staff, students, and the surrounding communities to pursue bold goals for the future.”

Since 2019, Dr. Akey has been vice president for student success, analytics, and integrated planning at Minnesota State University, Mankato. She has served the Mankato campus since 2000 in such roles as associate vice president for institutional research, strategy, and effectiveness; assistant to the vice president for student affairs; assessment coordinator; and assistant director for academic initiatives in the Office of the First Year Experience.

Dr. Akey earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Truman State University in Missouri. She holds a master’s degree in college student personnel from Bowling Green State University in Ohio and a Ph.D. in educational policy and administration from the University of Minnesota.
