New Assignments for Nine Women Scholars at Colleges and Universities

Liana Lareau has been named an assistant professor of bioengineering at the University of California, Berkeley. She was a fellow at the university’s California Institute for Quantitative Biosciences.

Dr. Lareau is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where she earned dual bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and biology. She holds a Ph.D. in molecular and cell biology from the University of California, Berkeley.

Jennifer Hamer has been appointed as the inaugural associate vice provost for faculty affairs-faculty development and as a faculty member in the department of African American studies at Pennsylvania State University. She currently serves as vice provost of diversity and equity at the University of Kansas.

Dr. Hamer is a graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio where she majored in sociology. She holds a master’s degree in sociology from Texas A&M University and a doctorate in sociology from the University of Texas at Austin.

Diana Doumas has been named a Boise State Distinguished Professor. She currently serves as a professor and director of the Institute for the Study of Behavioral Health and Addiction. She has been a Boise State faculty member since 2003.

Dr. Doumas is an honors graduate of Stanford University where she majored in psychology. She holds a master’s degree and Ph.D. both in clinical psychology from the University of Southern California.

Judi McDonald has been named associate dean of the Graduate School at Washington State University. She has served as a professor in the university’s department of mathematics and statistics since 2001.

Dr. McDonald is an honors graduate of the University of Alberta in Canada where she majored in mathematics. She holds a master’s degree and Ph.D. both in mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Kavita Khory has been named the Carol Hoffman Collins Director of the McCulloch Center for Global Initiatives at Mouth Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts. She is the Ruth Lawson Professor of Politics and has been a faculty member at Mount Holyoke since 1990.

Professor Khory is a graduate of Mouth Holyoke College. She holds a master’s degree and Ph.D. both from the University of Illinois.

Clare Reimers has been named a 2019 Distinguished Professor at Oregon State University. She is a professor in the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences and a project scientist for the Regional Class Research Vessel Program.

Dr. Reimers is a graduate of the University of Virginia where she majored in environmental science. She holds a master’s degree and Ph.D. both in oceanography from Oregon State University.

Nadia Biassou has been named a 2019-2021 Wade Fellow at Amherst College in Massachusetts. She currently serves as a senior research physician in the Radiology and Imaging Sciences Department at the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.

Dr. Biassou is a graduate of Amherst College. She holds a medical doctorate from the University of Chicago and a master’s degree and Ph.D. both from the University of Pennsylvania.

Diane Foster has been named director of the School of Marine Science and Ocean Engineering at the University of New Hampshire. She is a professor of mechanical and ocean engineering.

Dr. Foster holds a Ph.D. from Oregon State University.

Ashley Allen has been named an assistant professor of choral music education at the University of Southern Mississippi. She was an assistant professor of music education at Central Michigan University.

Dr. Allen holds a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in music education from the University of Oklahoma and a Ph.D. in music teacher education from the University of Kansas.
