Five New Women Leaders at the Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine in Pasadena, California

Kaiser Permanente, the largest integrated health care system in the nation, announced in 2015 that it planned to open a new medical school. In 2017 the city of Pasadena was chosen as the location for the new medical school and a founding dean was named. The school plans to enroll its first class of students in 2019.

Recently the new medical school announced the appointments of 11 individuals who will have senior leadership roles at the medical school. Five of these appointments went to women.

Maureen T. Connelly has been named senior associate dean for academic and community affairs. She was dean for faculty affairs at Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Connelly is a cum laude graduate of Yale University. She holds a master of public health degree from the Harvard School of Public Health and a doctorate from Cornell University Medical College.

Anne Eacker has been named senior associate dean for student affairs. She was associate dean for student affairs and practicing general internist at the University of Washington School of Medicine.

Dr. Eacker is a summa cum laude graduate of Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington. She holds a doctorate with high honors from the University of Washington School of Medicine.

Carla Lupi has been named associate dean for assessment and evaluation. She was associate dean for faculty at the Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine.

Dr. Lupi holds a bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and a medical doctorate from the University of California, San Francisco.

Elizabeth McGlynn has been named interim senior associate dean for research and scholarship. She is currently vice president of Kaiser Permanente Research and executive director of the Kaiser Permanente Center for Effectiveness and Safety Research.

Dr. McGlynn is a magna cum laude graduate of Colorado College. She holds a master of public policy degree from the University of Michigan and a Ph.D. from the Frederick S. Pardee RAND Graduate School in Santa Monica, California.

Lindia Willies-Jacobo has been named associate dean for admissions. She was assistant dean for diversity and community partnerships, professor of pediatrics, director of the program in medical education-health equity and member of the recruitment and admissions executive committee at the University of California, San Diego.

Dr. Willies-Jacobo holds a bachelor’s degree and a medical doctorate both from the University of California San Diego.
