Hamilton College, the highly rated liberal arts educational institution in Clinton, New York, has nine new tenure-track faculty member on campus this fall. Eight of the nine new faculty members are women.
Angela Blum is an assistant professor of chemistry. She was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Blum is a graduate of Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon. She earned a Ph.D. at the California Institute of Technology.
Kristen Burson is a new assistant professor of physics. She had been conducting research on the atomic scale structure of glass at the Fritz-Haber Institute in Berlin, Germany. A graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota, Dr. Burson earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. at the University of Maryland, College Park.
Alexsia Chan was hired as an assistant professor of government. She was a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow at Middlebury College in Vermont. Dr. Chan earned a bachelor’s degree at Rutgers University in New Jersey and a master’s degree and a Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkeley.
Viva R. Horowitz is a new assistant professor of physics. She has done postdoctoral research at Harvard University and the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena. Dr. Horowitz is a graduate of Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania and holds a Ph.D. in physics from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Kira Jumet is a new assistant professor of government. She was director of development for the American Iranian Council. She has taught at the College of Staten island in New York, Rutgers University, and Marymount Manhattan College. Dr. Jumet is a graduate of Brown University. She holds a master’s degree from the American University in Cairo and a Ph.D. in political science from Rutgers University.
Siobhan Robinson is teaching in the department of psychology. She previously taught at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire and Oberlin College in Ohio. Dr. Robinson is a graduate of the University of Rochester. She earned a Ph.D. in neuroscience from the University of Washington.
Pavitra Sundar is teaching courses in global film and literature at Hamilton College. She is a graduate of Ithaca College in New York, where she majored in psychology and English. She holds a doctorate in English and women’s studies from the University of Michigan.
Rachel White is a new assistant professor in psychology. She was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. White is a graduate of Wellesley College in Massachusetts. She earned a Ph.D. from the Institute of Child Development at the University of Minnesota.
With over 25 years of experience in higher education, business, and public service, Dr. Kollmann has been serving as chancellor of the New Mexico State University Global Campus. She is slated to become the next president of Vermont State University in July.
Throughout her career, Leeds has gained more than 25 years of experience as a professor and university administrator. Currently, she serves as dean of the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at Arizona State University.
Dr. Recasner has over two decades of experience as a tenured faculty member and senior administration in higher education. She has been serving as the interim president of Seattle Central University.
