The First Woman President of Eastern Mennonite University in Virginia

Susan Schultz Human, the new president of Eastern Mennonite UniversityThe board of trustees of Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, has chosen Susan Schultz Huxman as the educational institution’s ninth president. The university enrolls about 1,200 undergraduate students and 450 graduate students. Women are 66 percent of the undergraduate student body.

Dr. Huxman currently serves as president of Conrad Grebel University College in Waterloo, Ontario. Earlier, she was the director of the Elliott School of Communication at Wichita State University in Kansas. When she takes office on January 1, Dr. Huxman will become the first woman to serve as president of Eastern Mennonite University.

Dr. Huxman is a graduate of Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in communication studies from the University of Kansas.
