Amy Hungerford Named Divisional Director of the Humanities at Yale University

hungerfordAmy Hungerford, professor of English and American studies at Yale University, was named divisional director for the humanities in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at the university. She is one of three divisional directors in the new governing structure of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.

Professor Hungerford has been a member of the faculty at Yale since 1999. Previously she taught at Middlebury College in Vermont. Professor Hungerford is the author of The Holocaust of Texts: Genocide, Literature, and Personification (University of Chicago Press, 2003) and Postmodern Belief: American Literature and Religion Since 1960 (Princeton University Press, 2010).

Professor Hungerford holds a bachelor’s degree in political science, master’s degrees in humanities, poetry, and literature, and a Ph.D. in English and American literature, all from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.
